Say hi to Alicia!

Did you notice a new face on yesterday's Weekly Chart? If you've come across not just our blog or website, but also our Academy, webinars, training materials, Unwrapped conference, social media presences, or YouTube videos, you know that we have lots of communication channels – and all of them need design work. That's why we're delighted to announce the latest addition to the design team: Alicia Madlangbayan is joining us as a visual designer, filling this position.
Let's get to know her:
Can you please introduce yourself?
Hi, I'm Alicia! I grew up in the small town of Herzogenaurach in the heart of Franconia in Germany.
I’m a person with many different passions and love to really dig deep into a special interest. Past and current hobbies include: competitive gymnastics, acting and theater, making music and busking, staying up to date with pop culture, creating costumes for themed parties, playing board games and D&D, crocheting, and making carbonated lemonade through fermentation.
What did you do before working at Datawrapper?
I studied integrated product design in Coburg and completed my bachelor's degree in December 2023 with a thesis exploring the future of food. In the past, I’ve worked as a product designer at Tchibo, and in various smaller assistant jobs at startups and theaters.

Why did you want to join Datawrapper?
It was clear to me from the start that Datawrapper is a company that aligns with my values, and that the people who work here are all enthusiastic about what they do. I was looking to be part of such a team and very happy when I read the advertised position for a visual designer.
What will you do at Datawrapper?
As visual designer at Datawrapper, I will be a bridge between the design and communications teams. I’ll work on everything from the website and blog to tutorial videos, but also helping out with everyday design tasks concerning the Datawrapper app.
What are you looking forward to learning at Datawrapper?
With all the data vis knowledge surrounding me at Datawrapper, I am very excited to inevitably fall into the rabbit hole of all things data visualization and information design. I think I wasn't aware of how big and intricate this field was until now, but I'm looking forward to taking a nerdy deep dive.
Thanks, Alicia! We’re excited to have you as part of the team. To learn more about Alicia and her projects, visit her website.
