Data Vis Dispatch, April 14: Hungary, transport, and #30DayChartChallenge
Welcome back to the 240th edition of Data Vis Dispatch! Every week, we’ll be publishing a collection of the best small and large data visualizations we find, especially from news organizations — to celebrate data journalism, data visualization, simple charts, elaborate maps, and their creators.
Recurring topics this week include the historic results of Hungary's election, modes of transportation, and the #30DayChartChallenge.
The past week has brought some positive news in politics, from an increase in global democracy to the results of Hungary’s election. Numerous visualizations have been created to cover this historic event.
The ongoing war in the Middle East continues to have a significant impact on ship traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. As the rest of the world deals with the effects of the energy crisis, Iran has experienced a shift in trade due to sanctions.
While gas prices are still rising throughout Europe, some wages are not. Top executives and owners of family businesses are unlikely to be affected by this, considering the shockingly high salaries they receive. Meanwhile, income inequality is increasing among different groups in China.
Cars are also becoming less affordable, resulting in an increased use of alternative modes of transport, ranging from trains to delivery drones.
The success of the Artemis II mission has paved the way for future space expeditions, including a planned lunar base on the moon.
And finally, we conclude this Dispatch with a new batch of selected visualizations of the #30DayChartChallenge!
